A message from...
Founder and director of Stamford James Safety.
I first became involved in fire safety relatively recently in 2017, after the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy that sadly took so many lives. Like everyone else I was horrified at the images we all saw on the news of this incident, it was at this point that I decided I wanted to make sure I play my small part in helping make this type of incident never to happen again and I decided to make fire safety a new career path for myself.
Thankfully since this disaster many lessons in the industry have been learnt and government as well fire industry organisations have been getting involved to make this a focus for all residents in Britain.
After a small project I carried out to investigate how regularly fire safety equipment tests and services in residential blocks were being carried out in accordance with British Standards requirements I was astonished as to the lack of regular testing and servicing being carried out at blocks be it from block management agents or directors of blocks who sometimes looked at costs before safety.
Since 2017 I am extremely pleased to see that many reputable agents have made huge strides in arranging regular testing and servicing of the fire systems within their blocks and have now set aside yearly budgets for these at the blocks they manage.
We still have some way to go but the great news is that fire safety is now a big part of a block management agency’s workload. May it long continue!
We had an issue with our burglar alarm so called for help. Even though it’s outside of their standard services they were very kind to give us some useful tips.
Great service. The fire alarm was ringing non stop in our block and I called 5 companies that could not help other than Stamford James who walked me through the process of silencing the fire alarm panel and resetting it.
Such a relief as this has been a regular issue but now it has been solved. The company is now servicing the fire alarm system in our block.

Extremely professional and honest business. They regularly carry out monthly testing of Emergency Lighting and Fire Alarm Systems within various blocks of flats and have also provided an excellent "Handyman" service repairing minor defects including kitchen units, door handles, smoke alarm batteries etc.

We have been using Stamford James for the last 4 years to carry out emergency light and fire alarm testing and servicing at our block. They are contractors of our block management agent and quite often we bump into the engineers when they are on site on a monthly basis. I have to say they are a fantastic group who are always happy to do small bits and pieces around the block that sometimes they do not charge for including sticking Down Loose carpet edges and tightening loose handlebars etc. They have also carried out figure jobs for us in the garden for paving and other health and safety related work. I highly recommend them to any prospective managing agents or leaseholders of blocks. They actually also fitted our emergency lighting system back in 2018.
Stamford James are very professional, responsive, efficient and it is a delight to work with them and have the piece of mind that the works are carried out to a high standard. They have been dealing with a variety of issues for me such as handyman services, Fire Alarm, emergency lights & AOV routine testing and servicing,etc. I was impressed not only by the fast response but also by the admin side of their business which is amazing and when needed they did not doubt going the extra mile and make me feel valued as a customer.
